State Fair!

Today was Zoey's first trip to the Texas State Fair....hopefully first trip of many! She had SO much fun! We went with Robin & Eva and Scott, Diane & Elizabeth. The first thing we did was go through a Children's Farm. It was such a clever idea. They got a basket and apron to begin with, then had to follow the path through the farm and collect/do different things along the way. For example, they had to scoop up corn to later feed the chickens and pigs, they had to plant a seed and then pick up the resulting veggie from the next patch, they "milked" a cow and got a carton of milk, collected a chicken's egg, etc. The animals and food were not really real, but it was so much fun to get to touch things and pick things up and collect them in their baskets! They got to ride on a little tractor and then at the end, you "sell" all the things you've collected at market and earn a large dollar bill. There's a little store where you can pick a treat, Zoey chose the peanut butter cheese crackers, and you pay the cashier your dollar and get to keep your treat!!

Next we headed to the petting zoo where Zoey got to be very close to a giraffe! We also saw some cute little piggies and Zoey got to pet severarl goats and other animals.

After that we went to watch the pig races! They had 3 different races and our pig won the 2nd race, I think maybe the 3rd race too! Go team red!

Along the way we tried lots of the famous fair food! One of the good things about going with a group is you can all buy stuff and split it! We tried the following: Chicken Fried Bacon (this year's fair winner), Fried S'mores, Fried Truffles, Fried Cheesecake, Fried green beans, Fried Oreos, Fried Nutter Butters and Chocolate covered strawberries!! My favorite was the S'mores, Dow liked the Truffles and Zoey liked the green beans and chocolate covered strawberries (and everything else we gave her)!

We got to see the Parade which was so neat! All the floats were lit up and so pretty, plus lots of horses and Zoey had a blast waving to everyone! She liked the music and lights a lot too!

We had to stop by Big Tex for a family photo :)

Zoey got to ride the Merry Go Round, she really liked it, especially when she was able to spy daddy as we would go past him. She was just CRACKING up, it was too cute! The line for the famous Ferris Wheel was really long, but we got a cool picture anyway!

The girls all did great, they enjoyed watching the water and Zoey of course wanted to pat it, so I let her out and she splashed around for a little bit! We were there for over 4 hours I think and of course didn't do everything but we all had a great time!! Zoey konked out on the way home and will hopefully sleep in tomorrow morning!
