CA, sailing on John John, LaLa, Aunt Joyce and more!

We just got back from a great trip to California! We flew out on Friday, bright and EARLY, which was great b/c that meant we had the whole day once we got there! Aunt LaLa picked us up and thought Zoey looked "six years old" - and she just saw her in June! She took us to the Jonathan Shepherd, Bab's and Pop's sailboat...we finally got to see it in the water, wow, what a beautiful boat!! It is named after our ancestor, Jonathan Shepherd. Mom and Dad have his sea captain's chest and telescope, plus a cool portrait of him which is framed and hanging in the boat - Zoey calls him "John John"!



LaLa had to go to work, but we visited her later in the day and got some ice cream. Pop's took us out on the dingy, Zoey enjoyed the sea lions and pelicans - which sounded like "apples" when she said it! She didn't even mind wearing the life jacket luckily! We also got to meet Termite, another boat owner's pretty bird.







Robb (Dow's best man in our wedding) and Sheryl flew out from KY and joined us for sailing over the weekend! They are sailors as well and had fun being the crew - Dow and I enjoyed just laying out and watching the scenery! Aunt LaLa babysat Zoey while we sailed, which worked out perfectly for everyone! We had some great meals, both on and off the boat and just a wonderful time hanging out with family and friends! Zoey got to see the ocean/beach again (last August in CA was her first time), although she didn't really like getting "dirty" in the sand. Zoey's favorites were playing fun games with LaLa on (and off) the boat, "scaring" Pop's through the stairway opening on the boat, all the stairs/steps in the boat, showes by Pops on the boat and more!











We visited Aunt Joyce on Monday while Dow, Robb and Sheryl toured LA. They did the Warner Bros Studio Tour, ate at Pink's (famous hotdogs) and did some shopping, Dow bought me not one, but TWO, great purses!! We flew home Tuesday night, after getting some ice cream & cookie sandwhiches at Diddy Riese! Zoey did just great on the whole trip with the time change, 2 flights, the sailboat and all the activities - she makes traveling with a "baby" so easy - she was pretty squirmy on the way home, but she did eventually fall asleep!
